The Book of Boba Fett, Chapter Three: The Streets of Mos Espa (3/5)

I was incredibly excited for this episode after the previous week and how wonderful it was. I was disappointed to say the least. After a 4.5/5 premiere and a 5/5 second episode, I had a lot of hope. Unfortunately, I can’t give this one more than a 3/5 and that is really pushing it for me. A major part of me wants to give it lower, so I feel as though I am being more than fair. The acting was incredible as always, the present-day storyline was enjoyable. I think that it’s really special what Boba is doing for the people of Mos Espa. To me, him hiring the youth gang with the cool speeders rather than punishing them was doing better for the city than the water monger wanted. If they have work, they’re not going to get into trouble, and they’ll be more likely to be provided for, which was a real indictment of how we handle crime and punishment in our society because we don’t look out for each other. The people at the top simply want to punish those at the bottom for not having the resour

The Book of Boba Fett, Chapter Two: The Tribes of Tatooine (5/5)

Once again, The Book of Boba Fett has blown me away from start to finish. A solid five-star episode for me, building on the 4.5/5 from the premiere episode. The quality all around in this series has been outstanding thus far, and I cannot wait for more. Seriously, Wednesdays can never come fast enough. Director Steph Green did a brilliant job with this episode, taking what was begun in the first episode and building on it here. Building on the present-day timeline with the introduction of contenders for Boba’s throne, building on the past with the focus on Boba’s relationship with the Tuskens that he earned the respect of when he killed the giant sand monster that we don’t know the name of. I am still finding that I’m preferring The Book of Boba Fett in its early stages to The Mandalorian , and I really enjoyed The Mandalorian because it got me back into Star Wars . This episode of The Book of Boba Fett was longer than the previous one, and I don’t really take issue with that because

UPDATE

Hello, friends.  I do have more reviews coming that were sort of backlogged due to me getting sick last week. I'm finishing the reviews off and getting them posted (probably 1-2 a day so that I can catch up faster).  Upcoming reviews include: Chapters 2 and 3 of The Book of Boba Fett , The Fallen Star , Eternals #8, Life Day Treasury , Star Wars  #20, The High Republic Adventures #12, and Eye of the Storm #1. In addition to this blog, my friend Lil and I have decided to start a podcast called Books and Beacons  for the Star Wars  canon challenge where we will be reviewing the Star Wars  canon novels and comics. You can find information for both of our social media accounts, as well as the podcast's socials here . We hope that you'll come along on this journey with us.  With that, my friends and I are in the beginning stages of our business podcast/show for The Storyteller's Tavern , which you can find information about here , and my partner and I are hoping to be able t

The High Republic Adventures Annual (5/5)

The easiest way to break down this review is to do it story by story. The High Republic Adventures Annual (2021) was co-written by Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, Daniel Jos é  Older, Cavan Scott, and Charles Soule, with each of them writing a different short that went into the larger work. Overall, I would love to see these stories expanded on, but I know that even if each of them were their own comic miniseries, it still wouldn’t be enough for me, because I am obsessed with The High Republic and everything about it. I overall rate the Annual five stars because of the writing quality and artistic quality of each story. Each of the authors did an incredible job. First was Charles Soule’s “Set For Life” which took place on Elphrona as a Bell and Loden story. I love the setting up of this one and the ease that the Elphrona Jedi have with one another in their day to day lives and how they handle things. Bell and Loden have to attend a collapsed mine and rescue a trapped miner, and Emb

The High Republic #12 by Cavan Scott (5/5)

Cavan Scott’s writing and Georges Jeanty’s art in The High Republic #12 was simply mind-blowing. After a few issues packed with adventure, this issue felt different in the way that it handled the characters. Due to previous issues dealing with more action and this issue not really needing to do that because of how it was setting up more action, we got to spend time with the emotions of key characters like Avar, Keeve, and Sskeer. It’s important to see where these characters are at mentally before we move on to more action, which I am scared for. I’m generally scared for the upcoming works in The High Republic. Not in a bad way, I just don’t want anything bad to happen to the characters that I love. This issue though, is a full 5/5 stars, there is nothing else I could give it for a rating. It’s beyond wonderful in the way that Scott uses words to express the characters’ emotions and Jeanty uses the art to go deeper into the emotions. I want to talk about Avar first, and her journey i

Star Wars #19 by Charles Soule (4.5/5)

Charles Soule’s Star Wars (2020) run is the comic series that I credit with my… somewhat new, and seemingly alarming to some, interest in comic books. That is to say that I always had respect for the form and the style of story, but they always seemed so overwhelming. A friend recommended I start reading this particular series because at the time there were only 13 issues to catch up on and it would be easier on me. It was also the only way that I could get content of a character I knew that I would love, Commander Ellian Zahra. I still await her return, but I am very close to getting her back, only two issues according to Charles Soule who I keep asking on Twitter about her return. This issue? We got a mention of her, with warmed my heart. On the same page, we also got a mention of another one of my favourite characters in Star Wars , Holdo! That sold this brilliant issue on me right away. I love Star Wars stories that seem small but are so much bigger. Luke visited Ilum in this i
